Kenya – A Research Project by Lily Koning

The following paper was submitted by Lily to fulfill an assignment given by her 3rd grade teacher, Ms. DeCatsye, at Green Year Round Elementary School in Raleigh. She received no assistance whatsoever from either of her parents.
Kenya is an awesome country that has over 29 million people in it. It is in Africa right beside Uganda. [...]

African Groove

While John Nzenze is authentically (painfully) Kenyan, the tune that welcomes visitors to our blog gets on my nerves in a major way. Perhaps my nerves are unusually raw these days. Please settle this marital dispute. What do you think of Paul’s musical addition to The Konings in Kenya blog? E-mail him directly or post a comment. [...]

Getting Closer

Well, we’re down to 36 days, if I counted correctly. There’s a lot to be done still, but we are checking a few things off the list. Last Thursday we got our shots. Yellow fever and Hepatitis A for all 3 of us, and Tetanus for Carolyn and me (the kids were up to date [...]

The Dream Team

What’s in a name?

During a special service at our church recently, our rector spoke about the significance of names in scripture, how names represent parents’ hopes for their children’s characters and accomplishments. He referred to the example of when God changed Abram’s name to Abraham to signify God’s covenant. He also discussed the significance of the name of Jesus.
Why do [...]
